So far, super happy! The step up from an old ASRock Vision 3D 252B, was huge - but that is not strange considering the development of technology. Think the settings in the BIOS work fine, but - I do not get wise to the fan setting "Fanless", which I thought would work as the NUC becomes completely silent. That doesn't seem to be the case, or I've missed something. Regardless, the little sound it gives off is negligible. In fact, I was waiting for this generation when I read that Intel would fix a marginally better fan solution and - yes - I'm happy.

It's amazing what small powerful computers can be today. Recommended!

NUC8 looks on the paper as a marginal update to NUC7, but if you read in a little, NUC8i3 performs like a NUC7i7! It also has a slightly larger fan, so it has more pleasant fan sound despite better performance.

See all my comments for previous NUCs below.

Still not "native" HDMI 2.0, but what does it matter when it works great with 4K material?

Then that's the high-gloss lid, but Intel seems to like it. I cover it myself with carbon fiber tape. A simple solution to an extremely small concern.

No problems running dual screens. I run with dual 1440p - one via DP / USB-C and one via HDMI.

Full pot! After struggling with two consecutive NUC7PJYHs, I chose to add some money and vips so everything works exactly as it should. There is a test on the "nucblogen" where it is noted that the energy consumption in the idle is less than half with this NUC8i3, so I have won on several levels (doubtful how long the saving of electricity consumption required to earn the extra price of the computer itself - faswt I went to get one that worked!).

Incidentally, drive Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS - just lurking as stated, straight out of the box. Perfect as a music server (Logitech Media Server or then Squeezebox Server) and home automation server (HomeSeer 3) with both Z-Wave and Zigbee control.

    Crazy satisfied!
