When my old faithful "MyPassPort" started to fuss, I acquired this one in a hurry because it was quickly available locally. Mistake.

What you need to know about this is that you cannot install any applications in the NAS (not even the backup solution that appears when you access the NAS control panel).

This means that backup solutions (except for mobiles and tablets where included in the app you download) for PC and laptop must be provided separately.

What you can say is that it is well designed (looks neat) and that the installation was simple. Hugged is, however, recommended to download the complete manual as there are some to take in.

If you want the opportunity to let network storage also function as a real server, there are other devices to look at for a little more money but not so much. This is aimed more at very simple needs.

The idea is good, unfortunately the implementation is abysmal. To store individual larger files, e.g. movies, it works helpful. However, too small to be able to stream over the network with e.g. Plex in most cases. I bought this mainly to have my photos backed up, and it was okay to transfer the photos to the device - but accessing the photos then is almost impossible, as the device is slowed down when there are too many files for it to keep track of on, which causes the Windows Explorer to crash (similar to the Mac's equivalent, Finder).

There is no support for accessing the device in Linux.

Have tried using the built-in sync feature (stop in a USB hard drive in WD My Cloud and choose which folders to copy to the external hard drive), but then discover that it has randomly chosen not to copy certain files.

I do not recommend this product.

Useless. Does not recommend it. Does not support Dlna, which makes everything difficult. Tried to stream with Plex to smart tv. Larger clips, ie, recorded from the phone's camera, are chopping all the time. Movies work ok if they are not too big, but Plex has not managed to find everything. The app in the phone is user-friendly and everything is lagging. Even pictures are lagging.

Will never ever buy anything from wd. Did not think it could be a catastrophic failure with a product. I was wrong.

Will go out my block. Otherwise it goes to the tip.

Bought it primarily for two things. Store and access via ipad. Storage works great but download to local device (phone / toad - iOS and android) does not work. This makes the product half worthless to me.

Has a 5 year old Seagate Central who can handle everything but is slow and bad nowadays ... badly that WD limits download rights.

Do not buy this! Extremely useless. The Worst Product I Ever Purchased. It works, but it's very slow! The app is completely unusable (you have to scroll all of your pictures from the beginning, if you have thousands of pictures then it's impossible).

The idea of the product is good, but implementation is untrue. I only hope WD fixes the software.
