After a few uses, it stops discharging water. Will it be replaced but the same fault also on the other. We have done an exemplary but still it just stops working. Don't buy

A really bad product. It is delicious, barely clean and is large and heavy. Don't understand how for example an older lady should be able to use this in a good way. As with all kärchers products, it does not last long. Buy Stihl instead.

Enjoyed mine over a year and is very satisfied. If you take care of it according to the instructions, I think it can last for many years. If you think you can drive a little and then set it aside without cleaning it will have a short life. It is used about once a week here. The rollers I run in the washing machine and I try to be careful to remove hairs and other from the shoulders.

    I've had three FC 5!

Machine No. 1 was some demo ex which was not in the description. Did not work at all.

Machine No. 2 worked pretty well until one day when no water came to the rollers.
Submitted to an authorized workshop. Got a new machine without explanation.

Makin No. 3, today ran half the house, which went well. Then switch to new rolls which I drove around in some water before use, but these took the plastic all the time. Took off, took on etc They drove in more water but they fell in love with HELA time. Turning around I lift the machine but stops spinning as soon as I pulled back and forth on the floor. As if the rollers are too big for the machine ...

After holding on for half an hour, I became insane and pulled the whole machine into the floor.

    NEVER MORE A FC 5!

Have driven it once so a short review based on a first cleaning. Bought it on Ica maxi for 995 so there's a good cap there!

+ spray well with water, not too little or too much in my opinion
+ it pulls forward which makes the cleaning easier and a bit more fun
+ moped the whole plan yesterday, and ran it today. Is it believed where the water is black?
+ quality feeling straight through. Feels like something a gym would buy
+ it also seems to suck the dust

-very heavy. Works for me, but I think it's going to be a bit too heavy for my wife, but it turns out
The cord is a bit short I can think
Sounds right high but no problem

It mumps well if you spray some water on the floor first where you want to scrub. It's too stingy with water. So extra water is needed to remove stains of food or the like. But to get up dust it works well without extra water. It is important to soak up the mop before each use according to the instructions, one dl per side seems right.

However, it does not get rice or other particles in that size. These are just taken away. So no vacuum cleaner is it really not. It has exactly the same function as a mop, but removes spots a bit better because you can let it stand and spin on the spot.

After first use, I was a little disappointed, the floors looked more dirty than before using the machine. However, it turned out that the floors had a lot of dirt ingots, ran a few more times, and now the floors are shining clean so it's easy to understand that a regular mop does not clean in the same way.

The assembly is simple and the machine is easy to handle when driving. The cord's range is good, but sometimes I can feel that the cord is a bit in the way. A plus if it could have been folded together to take less space when stored, in addition to it's a cannon product.

I'm not going to stretch myself so far to say that the cleaning has been fun, but it does not feel as burdensome as before.

After using the Karcher for a few weeks now my initial thoughts are that, it is very easy to use and very quick to clean all of my hard floors, much easier than using the traditional mop and bucket and far less mess. One of the most frustrating of issues we have had so far are that the rollers seem to pop off occasionally, and you need to beware of any trailing cables as it will get itself stuck if not cautious, having a rather technological family the house is forever laden with charge cables strewn across the floor and under tables. The drying time is around 5 minutes which is far better than using a mop and bucket although slightly longer than the website states, at times I have accidentally walked into the house and across a moist floor without realizing the cleaner was used a few mins before. Also another good point that I find is that the cat doesn't try and chase after it due to the noise where as the conventional mop was seen as a play thing for her. On the vacuum side of things unfortunately you will still need a vacuum cleaner to accompany as it does not seem to cope too well with getting into the corners, or any carpeted areas, that being said it is marketed as a hard floor cleaner and it does that job rather well indeed. A rather mixed first impression I have given 3 stars as I am still unsure if the house would be best suited with a more all in one solution to cope with the corners and the carpeted areas rather than having two cleaners to lug around and swap between.

well as putting it together without using manual. Easy finding out where to put the clean water. Although I had to look deeper how much of cleaning detergent to use as the sample us really tiny. Don't last long. First use went well. It's better to star the cleaning with presoaking the rollers. And as well get away bigger dirt before using Karcher FC5. It's very easy to use, it's not laud during day. Takes dirty floor with a glance. While cleaning the Cleaner is gliding on the hardfloor making it easy face foward but pulling back you need more power. Drying time is A bit longer than expected. Need to get used to how is the best way to clean it. First emty dirty water tank than put two cups of clean water in a storage stand and turn on FC5 for few seconds it will completly clean the rollers. However dirt like hair gets stuck underneath so need to clean it properly afterwards. My only issue by now is a little hassle with cleaning it, that it needs to be on a cable would be great if it’s recharchable as on a backwards cleaning the cable was on the wau and it's harder to store but that’s not a big issue.

The FC5 arrived very well packaged with clear simple instructions and was a breeze to put together. It is a very study, professional looking unit, although it may be a bit heavy for some. Getting it ready for operation was pretty easy, the reservoir filled without much fuss and clipped back into place. Good to see a floor cleaning product with a sensible sized lead that allows you to move around without stopping every 2 minutes to move the plug. Starting up the FC5 it has quite a pull on it gliding around the floor with ease. Not too much excess water coming out and you can clearly see where the FC5 has cleaned and where it hasn't. The FC5 was quite competent in picking up some pet hair and small particles off the floor. The floor dried quickly and streak free. So as a floor cleaning product it certainly fits the bill...it is not perfect however. My biggest problem with the unit is that it is not freestanding so if you want to stop and put the unit down you either have to lay it down or plan your cleaning accordingly so that the base it clips it is in the right place every time you want to stop. This problem is compounded when you try to clean the unit. All of the pieces you want to clean regularly are completely covered by the base stand so you have to remove the reservoir(s) otherwise they leak all over the floor, remove the rollers which is very simple and colour coded for guidance. but the clip to remove the front panel is very stiff and takes an age to get back on after it has been cleaned. The other issue being that past a brief sprinkling of dust or 3 to 4 pet hairs you do need to vacuum beforehand. So with all that said is it worth the faff and expense of trying to save time with the FC5 over a simple mop and a quick vacuum beforehand? In my option probably not. I could get over having to vacuum or sweep up any large objects beforehand, but without the unit being freestanding it is more effort than it is worth for me.

The Karcher FC5 is clearly a well made and high quality product. Using this on both the kitchen tiled floor and ordinary laminate floor, it gets rid of the dust and dirt and then washes it leaving it looking well polished and completely clean. The FC5 is easy to use and would recommend this to anyone with hard floors as it brings them up beautifully.

First impressions Good Points – Looks good, sturdy and well made, easy to put together, instructions clear, power cord length seems fine and has not caused any issues getting the FC5 around multiple rooms. Bad Points – FC5 is far too heavy, my wife has particularly struggled with it when doing multiple rooms in one go, especially when you need to carry the unit across carpeted rooms to the next room to use, drying times seem a lot longer than advertised 2 mins , but believe this may be down to me putting too much water in the base before starting, its unclear from the instructions on how much water to put in the base and i may be soaking the rollers to much. Unit does not pick up all debris so still feel it would be better to vacuum before using, which goes against one of its selling points that it’s a vacuum and mop all in one, Takes a bit of getting used the the powered rollers and to start with the cleaner seems to run away from you, but once you get used to this its ok, will not clean into corners as well as my existing vacuum and stream mop Overall its not bad, but its has more bad points than good, it does clean well but I wouldn't say it’s any better than my steam mop, the main issues I see with the cleaner are the weight and that I still need to vacuum before use.

I have now been using the Karcher FC5 for a few weeks and I have to say that I am very impressed with this machine. It was easy to assemble and it has a sleek design. Also, I found the instructions very clear and easy to follow. Although it is heavier than expected, it glides over the floor. So when using it you don’t realise its weight. When I first used the Karcher FC5 I was extremely surprised by the colour of the waste water… I hadn’t realised how dirty my floor was even though I do clean it regularly.
Since I have started using it, my floor is looking sparkling clean and it has definitely cut my work in half. Now I don’t have to vacuum then mop the floor as everything is done at once. I find that the tank is on the small size, but it can be re-filled easily so I don't think it is that big of an issue.
All in all, I am extremely happy with the Karcher FC5

I was interested in trying the Karcher FC5 hard floor cleaner for several reasons: we are getting a puppy soon and I will need to wash our hard floors daily to keep them clean & free of doggy smells, I have a large tiled area to cover (a large open plan kitchen, dining room and lounge) so I need to have it clean and dry quickly. I have chronic pain and fatigue so the easier & faster the cleaning is the better!

Set up of the FC5 is pretty easy, once it's out of the box you click the handle in to the body of the machine and dock it in the stand provided. You then remove and fill the clean water tank, add your cleaning solution & put the tank back. Pour about a cup of water in the docking stand to dampen the rollers, turn it on for 5 seconds to wet the rollers and you are ready to go.

I can clean my hall, kitchen and dining room in under 10 minutes. The floor is left clean with only very light streaks of water. The floor is left dry enough for my cat to walk across it and it stays unmarked (usually there are paw prints left behind). Drying time was about 10 minutes. Comparing the end result to mopping the floor it is drier and the grout appears to be cleaner - see my before and after photos. Once dry the floor is streak free. I can clean the kitchen, dining room and lounge with one tank of clean water.

I was concerned that the weight of the FC5 might be too much for me to lift and manoevre due to my pain and fatigue but I found it manageable. The FC5 glides across the floor so you don't take the full weight of it and the handy stand means I can clean an area, take a break and continue later.

I have given a demonstration to a few friends and they all want one now.

Overall I am really impressed, I think I'm going to throw out my mop and bucket!

Finally got around to opening and setting up the FC5, Upon opening it has minimal parts and is of a good solid quality feel. The handle simply slides into place until it clicks and locks. Then stand in the supplied cleaning station/stand to allow hands free to fill water dispensing tank again an easy task. Also applied as per instructions some water to the stand to pre soak the rollers. First use was on smooth floor tiles, pleasantly surprised at how quiet the machine is, water is dispensed evenly and not to the point the floor is soaked, Light and easy to manoeuver and left no steaks or puddles. Floor dried quickly and was a quick and easy job. Second use was on laminate flooring and as above was very good , however more stubborn marks took a little more effort, may be Karcher could develop a roller with a slightly soft but abrasive feel for more stubborn marks. Only day 2 of use, my first issue would be the mains cable could be at least 2 meters longer, why do so many company`s scrimp on this, old houses do not have as many power points as new houses and are often very spread out. Well so far so good and back to testing....

When i first started using the Karcher FC5 I was a little sceptical. "How can this be easier than using a good old fashion mop"? Wow! was I wrong! This machine cleans brilliantly. I mean really cleans! I did not realise how dirty our floors were until I used the Karcher! Immediately upon opening the box, you can tell this is a quality piece of equipment. built to the same excellent standard as other Karcher products. I was a little intimidated by the rather think user guide that came with it but other than the first 2 or 3 pages, you really don't need it. It is so simple to use. The first floor I tackled with the FC5 was a small upstairs bathroom with a laminate floor. It is quite a cramped room but the FC5 was easy to manoeuvre in all the tight spaces and it took no time to completely clean the floor and left it almost dry to the touch! Wow! Time to move on the the large dining room and conservatory floors. These are both wood veneer laminate. If I were to to use a mop on this I would be a little worried about damaging the veneer. No such worries with the Karcher. I cleans and drys! and it was so quick! I have since lent the machine to friends and family for them to try! My in-laws who are in their 70's did not want to give it back! It made their porcelain tiled kitchen floor look like it was new! When you have finished cleaning. The FC5 sits on its "docking station" perfectly and fits under the stairs in the cupboard. Ready for action at a moments notice. Life's too short for cleaning floors. Get yourself one of these and this chore becomes almost a pleasure in a fraction of the time.

I’ve always used a brand leader mop and bucket before in the kitchen and it was ok as the space was quite small so the dog couldn’t mess up the floor too much. I bought my first house and moved in recently and I was quite worried about the amount of time it would take to Vac and clean the floors as I now have the whole ground floor with a mix of Tile, Laminate flooring and Lino in the bathrooms and I’ve gone from 1 bathroom to 4, but I have to say that this has been a total lifesaver and it only now takes me minutes to clean the floors (especially as the dog loves the mud in the back garden….). The rollers on the bottom are amazing and you can really see them working especially as you can see the dirty water collect in the tank, you’ll be amazed when you see how much it picks up!. My partner was a little bit worried about how much effort it would take to move it but because of the rollers it just effortlessly glides along the floor.

I would definitely recommend this product and my parents have already asked to borrow it!

Super quality Karcher FC5 and very easy to unpack and setup - . Since I bought it, I have used it few times now and yes, it does what it says - vacuums up light debris and mops hard floors at the same time - so it does cut the job in half (as you only have to vacuum and mop in one shot), but it does nothing on light debris (like crumbs) that have been trodden on (anyone with a toddler at home will know what I'm talking about) and I've had to scrape the trodden bits out with my nail and only then would the FC5 clean it up. Also, since the base is not that flexible, it cannot go into tight places (eg., the side between the toilet and wall), so it is weird that I can clean the whole "wider" floor, but not the tiny gaps/corners. My other thought about this product is that it uses cold water and though the soap is supposed to make the mop-up process leave your floors fresher-smelling and with fresh smell. The floor was clean and wet, but that's all it was. Also, it claims to dry up in 2 minutes - my floors dried up in just about 4 minutes. Karcher FC5 is compact, well-built, sturdy product, easy-to-use, great holding stand and super easy to clean. I Would recommend, and my Karcher did the job pretty well, though I still feel it would have been great if it had a little more suction power. The floor was nice, clean and excellent condition afterwards. I will definitely recommend the Karcher FC5 to anyone. The price is but dear but for a quality product, it is OK to pay extra.

We have used the hard floor cleaner for the last 2 weeks and it has saved time. It was easy to set up and use straight out of the box. The unit is fairly heavy but was easy to move around due to the roller pulling the unit away from you. It is a bit more difficult if you want to manoeuvre into harder to reach areas but I am sure it will become easier after more use. We were able to do the whole of the downstairs on one tank of liquid and the state of the waste water was frightening! The floors dried much quicker than with a mop and we didn't have to open windows and doors to get the floors dried. Overall it is a useful bit of kit and much quicker and easier than mopping. It is something we would use once a week when the big clean up is done at the weekend. We would still hoover between but at least we don't have to hoover before cleaning the floors.

This floor cleaner produces a great finish in the quickest time possible. With a three year old and a 4 month old, the house requires constant cleaning with very little time available. Using the Karcher FC-5 i am able to wash the floors whenever they require and they are dry within minutes. Upon opening the box i found the cleaner very easy to assemble, slotting in the handle and positioning the water feeder and collector, when using these are very easily removed refilled/emptied and clipped back into place with a firm clunk that reinforces the durability and quality of the materials used. With the exception of some miniature foil stars this cleaner is able to pickup a variety of bits, including cereal hoops which are constantly spread around by my son. My favourite features of this cleaner is the stand that it comes with, allowing for easy storage in a near vertical position, and how quickly it is to remove the microfiber rolls to clean, either under hot water or into the washing machine.

The Karcher FC5 is on paper the ideal product for me. It is intended to save me time when it comes to vacuuming and washing floors. Here’s what I thought:

The Karcher FC was a lot bigger than I had expected it to be when it arrived, however, it was very easy to put it together. The two water tanks clip in easily (one at the front for fresh water and the other at the back for the dirty water) as do the rollers. These water tanks were simple to remove for refilling and emptying too. The product also comes with a stand in which to clean the rollers and for storing the product in after use.

In my home I have laminate flooring throughout the downstairs except in the kitchen where I have floor tiles. I found that the Karcher FC5 was able to pick up small pieces of dirt and debris on the laminate fairly well but it struggled to do so on the tiled floor. The Karcher FC5 actually would get stuck going over my kitchen tiles when moving over the grout in between them. I have never had this problem when vacuuming my kitchen tiles.

I also found that the drying time took longer than the two minutes that Karcher said it would. When using the FC5 it felt like it was just spraying water about everywhere and I was left with a few very wet patches on my floors. It also struggled to remove more stubborn stains which my steam mop would have removed in an instant.

The FC5’s smart rollers are self-propelling and I’ll have to admit that I didn’t read the booklet properly prior to using it for the first time so I got a bit of a shock when it nearly shot away from me after switching it on. It did take a bit of getting used to in order to be able to control the Karcher FC5 when cleaning it as I felt that the rollers were just a tad too powerful for me (a 5 foot tall woman in her 30s) and wonder how well an older or less able person would be able to control it.

Overall, the Karcher FC5 was quick and easy to use as it does the two jobs of vacuuming and washing the floors in one. However, the quality of the cleaning you get with it is average as it doesn’t remove more stubborn stains and doesn’t dry as quickly as using a steam mop.

Overall I'm pretty impressed with this product and would definitely recommend it. The vacuum function could be slightly better and didn't quite perform as well as I'd expected for a Karcher but as long as you're happy to give your floor a quick sweep first then you shouldn't be too disappointed. It's super easy to use and will have your floor cleaned in no time at all. It doesn't leave it too wet after cleaning it and it's pretty much bone dry after a couple of minutes. It's nice and slim and packs away nicely in it's little stand so doesn't take up too much storage space. It is a little heavy but it zooms across the floor so fast that it doesn't really matter. I think it's slightly overpriced for what it is which is why I'm not giving it 10 stars but I do think it's a great little machine and my floors look great!

FC5 Is the easiest to use and quickest way to wash floors I have ever tried. The "self-propelling, forward rotating rollers" (I like this description) technology is great - FC5 feels light and moving it on the floor takes almost no effort at all. It's worth mentioning, that filling clean water tank and emptying dirty water container takes less time, than preparing bucket of water.
FC5 could be perfect device, if it would live up to all features in its description. And in this case - having misleading promises removed would be enough. So, lets start with the statement - "you don't need to vacuum floors first". No. Even things like a bread crumbs are quite a challenge for FC5. Vacuuming floors first takes less time, than convincing FC5 to pick up "small debris". And the pet hair? Yes, it picks up pet hair. But cleaning pet hair (and other solid dirt) out of dirty water tank is not easiest thing to do. Oh, and "dry in just two minutes" - I guess, that it might actually happen in house that has under floor heating.
My conclusion? Let your vacuum deal with "dust, small debris and pet hair" before washing floors with FC5 and replace "2 minutes" with "few minutes". It's still a great device, even without exaggerations in advertisement!

Was very optimistic for this device after reading all of the descriptions/reviews online and watching some product tests on Youtube, however I have to say so far I am disappointed.

Out of the box the device seems to give that Karcher level of quality being well made, robust and very easy to put together. The instructions are clear and should be fairly easy for anyone to understand. Getting the device assembled and ready for use only takes a couple of minutes.

Once it is assembled it looks like an impressive bit of kit that will fly through cleaning your hard floors making them shiny and new while hoovering up little bits of mess along the way, however this is where it doesn't quite live up to the advertisement.

The rollers and water/detergent do a great job of cleaning which it is not always apparent to see straightaway but look at the waste water tank afterwards and you can see the dirt it has managed to extract from your flooring.

Where this product fails is the hoovering aspect, it takes several passes to suck up some of the debris that you come across but more often than not it just pushes these elements around the floor and washes over them, leaving them still in place but just slightly soggy now.

This means you still need to run the hoover/broom around before using the Karcher which unfortunately negates one of the unique selling points of this machine as the one-stop do-it-all cleaning powerhouse saving you time that is promised.

In this case where you still need to use other cleaning products to get the full job done that the Karcher promised as an in all in one solution it is hard to recommend for the recommended retail price of >£200.

Allowing others to use the device I also got the following feedback - power cord too short meant having to unplug and plug the cord in as you moved around the room, water tank too small so had to refill more than once during a cleaning session and the biggest complaint was the weight - too heavy for continual use.

Being a busy mum I was always looking for a device to help me to wash the floor without wetting my hands, as I also have very sensitive skin. So, I was really excited when I tried the new Karcher FC5. It was easy to set up, it took me only 5 minutes. It looks and feels like a well-built, sturdy product. Its quite big so you need to think where are you going to store it as it takes quite a lot of space for what it is. I found it to be quite heavy as well. I used it several times already and the performance is above what I expected. The floor is sparkling clean and slightly damp after washing. Its important for me not to have a wet floor as the humidity in the area is quite high. You should not forget to empty the dirty water container after every use as I did, as it gets quite smelly. The thing that I did not like about the Karcher FC5 is that it doesn't have a self winding cord, which makes it difficult to operate and you can't fold the cord quickly. It tackles water spillages very well as well as picks the little bits and pieces from the floor. I used it on the laminated floor, tiles and stone and on all these surfaces it showed great performance. I would recommend it if you have large surfaces to wash, if your hard floor area is small then this device is probably not for you. I love my new Karcher and I'm using it almost every day. Makes my life so much easier.

The FC5 Hard Floor Cleaner was easily put together.
I wanted this product to save time cleaning my laminate flooring. This machine is quite capable of vacuuming and cleaning laminate flooring but only if this machine is used regularly. Picks up pet hair adequately.
I did notice the floors looked much cleaner than mopping due to the Smart Roller technology. The floors appeared to be smear free. Rollers easily cleaned but do need to be air-dried.
The drying time is longer than 2 minutes but does dry faster than when the floors are mopped.
Water tanks easily removed and filled / emptied.
The length of the cord is adequate (7 mtrs) for most rooms.
The product is heavy but self-propelling and has no problems going straight forward, this product is not as manoeuvrable as a vacuum cleaner – would recommend working in straight lines.
I would recommend this product without hesitation if you are prepared to use regularly, if not you would find yourself vacuuming before you used this product.

After suffering with flu and doing no house work for pretty much two weeks and having 10 cats you can only imagine the state of my floors, they were terrible and I was too ashamed to let anyone come into my house, well now I am all better and was finally able to try out my new karcher floor cleaner and what a difference it has made, the floors were perfect within a few minutes and any water that was left on the floor was very minimal and dried up very quickly. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone that has hard flooring within their home, I am truly impressed at how good this product is and I will be continuing to use this floor cleaner for a very long time, as with other karcher products I have had it is very well built so I am sure this will be around my house for many years to come.

I have been using the Karcher FC5 Hard Floor Cleaner for a few weeks now so I feel I can now review the product more extensively. The first thing you will notice when unboxing the Karcher FC5 is just how well made it feels, it's not the cheap feeling plastic you usually have on these type of appliances. I mentioned previously that when reading the user manual it can feel like the product will be a bit of a faff to use, however I'm pleased to report that this is not the case after using the appliance a couple of times. It is as simple as pouring clean water (and detergent if you fancy) into the tank and away you go. The great thing about the Karcher FC5 is that it is a 2 in 1 machine that vacuums and mops the floor at the same time. I have found since using this machine that the time it takes to clean my hard floors has dramatically reduced which is a massive bonus if you're short for time or just want to spend less of your free time cleaning. The machine works by using 2 soft rollers that spin once switched on, a benefit of this is that it is an easy machine to manoeuvre as the rollers propel it forward. I would say that on a scale of 1-5 with 1 being the hardest, it is probably a 4 in terms of how easy it is to manoeuvre the machine. The rollers are also very effective at removing debris and grime from the floors, I have illustrated this with a before and after photo of a tissue test I performed. The Karcher FC5 boasts that after cleaning with the machine your floors will be dry within 2 minutes. Whilst I haven't actually timed how long it takes for the floors to dry, it certainly takes much less time than my steam mop did. Once you have finished cleaning the floors all that is needed is to empty the dirty water tank at the rear of the machine. This just clips off with ease and can be poured down the drain and then clipped back on. Regarding maintenance, the rollers just slide off and can be machine or hand washed or you can also pour a small amount of water into the docking station and spin the rollers for a few seconds to clean them. I hope I have covered the important points of the Karcher FC5 and that you will be a little clearer on the features and benefits of the machine. I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone who wants to save time on cleaning their hard floors.

First impressions - Easy to set up, didn't have to refer to the full manual, the handy picture guide was enough. Set up and ready to go within 5 minutes. Excited to try it out. Pros - Not too noisy. Glides really easily, it feels pretty heavy but once the cleaning rolls start to rotate it helps move it around. Good suction. Good distribution of water, floor wasn't left too wet but at the same time you could see where you had already cleaned. Picked up dirt quickly. The real test is if my technophobe husband can use it without issues! Gladly he found it simple to set up and enjoyed using it. Cons - the whole device is pretty long and not flexible so it was a bit awkward to handle. Although it is great that it fits into corners and edges, the rollers brush against the skirting boards etc and so left grimy marks - annoying. Good for general spills and muddy footprints etc however no good for a deep clean - I have a dog that has caused mud and dirt to get into the wood grooves - the Karcher didn't touch it, a proper scrub will still be needed for this.

A must for all dog owners! No more muddy paw prints :)))

I was very excited to be given the opportunity to trial the Karcher FC5 Hard floor cleaner and I could not wait til the box arrived.
When the box arrived, it appeared to be quite big and heavy, on opening I found it to be very easy to put together, one click and that was it done. No fiddly bits to put together, was connected in less than a minute. Instructions were very clear and easy to read.
The box contained the floor cleaner, also a docking tray/stand which can be used to dock the cleaner on when not in use or for wetting the rollers when first being used and can also be used for cleaning the rollers afterwards. A VERY VERY small bottle of detergent was included and also two colour coded rollers.
So now time to get going and get these floors cleaned lol.
There is a container to the front which is easily removed and filled with water and a few drops of detergent, rollers put into place at the bottom and plug it into the mains and off we go.
First time using, you do feel a bit like the machine is pulling but when you get used to it, you can feel the machine gliding over the floors.
I was totally amazed at how clean it left the floors and also the quickness of it all. It does state that the floors will be dry within 2 minutes but I would say more like 5 mins but saying that I was wearing just socks when I done the floors and there was no wetness on my socks, meaning it did not over soak the floors.
Next was to empty the container at the back and I was shocked at the amount of dog hair and dirt in the container and I honestly thought my floors were clean, oops :)))), please see attached photos.

There are a lot of good points to this machine:
    Good instructions.
    Easy to put together.
    Glides along.
    Long cord length.
Time saving as in there is no need to mop or hoover anymore.
Fantastic for our household with two dogs who always seem to be shredding and quickly removes muddy paw prints.
Handy that the rollers can be machine washed.
Easy to clean after every use.
    Quick to prepare for cleaning.
    Ideal for everyday use.
Handy if you get a few minutes warning of unannounced visitors.
Not very noisy, our small border terrier is not afraid of this but she is when I use the hoover.

    Bad points:
Replacement rollers (if needed) are expensive at £19.99.
Maybe not ideal for a weekly clean, more suited to an everyday clean.
Will not pick up big debris.
    Not suitable for uneven floors.
Possibly should have made this with one roller instead of two as can sometimes leave streaks.
Initial cost of this machine can be seen as expensive.

All in all, I am more impressed with this machine even with the few bad points.
This has cut my cleaning time immensely by a third, no more cleaning out mops.
This machine for me, has cut my work load down as I would normally have to hoover then mop and brush afterwards.
Not only time saving, but money saving as do not need as much cleaning fluid.
    Would highly recommend.
Would have given 5 stars but does have a few niggly bad points.

I was so excited to have made it on to this trial, I found it a bit arkward to put the handle on but thankfully it only needs doing once. I started in the kitchen which is vinyl flooring and found that it was easy to use, because it’s a motorised roller I found it easy to use and I know some have said they have found it heavy but I found it much easier that the conventional steamer. Next I moved in to the dinning room with the same flooring and it made a terrible noise and stopped, the fleece covering on the roller had come off and become jammed, I have been waiting for a week for an replacement roller which has never come so I have had to try and fix the old one which may have affected the preformance of the machine. I have found that the drying time is much longer that the stated 2 minutes and the rollers have to be washed after each use or they smell very bad. I have had a few friends try it on a tiled kitchen and hallway at a hall I look after and no one has been very impressed, it only sucks up small crumbs and doesn’t remove marks or crumbs that are stuck to the floor, although a all have said it is easy to use on a large area and it hardly uses any water

I tried the FC5 today for the first time after getting a free trial through the Insiders Network.

I found it very easy to set up but as I did so I was struck by how large it is and wondered where I could keep it when not using it. Filling the clean water tank was easy but it wasn't so easy to identify when filled to max as the tank had to be held on a slant to fill it. My clean water tank dripped about once a second from the valve at the bottom on first use but subsequently the dripping has all but completely stopped.

Previously I have cleaned my floors on my hands and knees using a microfibre cloth. Sometimes I have done it with a special microfibre mop but not very often as I think it leaves behind clumps of fluff.

I was initially concerned how it would manage the smaller floor areas. So first off I struggled to keep control of it and make it go where I wanted but it did quickly become much more natural to use and manoeuvre and in larger areas it did well. I didn't find it as heavy as expected and the self propelling roller is good. I have Karndean flooring in the kitchen which has a grain on it. As with my previous method, I found the floor washes better it you do it with the grain rather than across the grain. The size and weight of the machine do make this more difficult at times than my hands, knees and cloth method, or a mop. I did find that the fluff and debris were often not collected by the FC5. Some bits in fact were deposited when the machine was switched off. Drying time was not as optimistic as suggested and it took somewhere over 5 minutes to dry in the main areas and more in the side bits.
After the kitchen I moved to the parquet flooring in the hallway. This was recently cleaned and mostly has a lot of fluff gathering up on it from adjacent carpets. I found this much easier to clean and yes It is a much more regular shape which I'm sure helps. The area next to a relatively new carpet was still very fluffy after cleaning. It seemed to dry in a few minutes, not perhaps the 2 suggested.

Emptying the water tanks is easy, aside from the drips. I also found the cable wasn't long enough to manage the length of my hallway from one end it had to be plugged in in the middle. A bit longer would have helped.

Kärcher’s bright yellow products will be well-known to many and the brand’s almost synonymous with pressure washers: on any given Sunday, cars up and down the nation will be getting a clean aided by a Kärcher. Over the past few years, the company has been trying to increase its market with a range of household cleaning products and last year, the Window Vac seemed to be everywhere.

This year, it’s the turn of the floors and here we have the Kärcher FC5 hard floor cleaner. Hard floors are very much en vogue at the moment but keeping them clean involves dry vacuuming followed by wet mopping or steam cleaning. The FC5 is designed to get round this problem by combining elements of an upright vacuum cleaner with a wet floor cleaner.

The way the FC5 works is to suck water and detergent from the front reservoir, pour it onto the rollers, scrub the floor with the spinning damp rollers and then vacuum the now grubby water and debris up into the rear container. Sounds perfect and in practice, works well too.

Turning on the FC5 for the first time can be a little surprising as the rollers can get a bit of a grip on the floor and pull the cleaner away from you. It's a bit like a powered lawn mower but not nearly as strong. It's also noisy like a vacuum - theres no soft gurgle of a steam mop.

Once mastered, the FC5 can be easily manoeuvred around the place and there's a bit of tilt-n-swivel action. Tilting the handle to the left or right will turn the roller head in the same direction so you can kind of curve past things and into corners.

Filling the clean water reservoir is easy but it's hard to see and use the "max" marker, especially as you're filling the container nearly horizontal and you have to tilt it vertically to check on the water level. I found that one fill was enough to clean a hallway (solid wood), a kitchen (tile), a bathroom (tile) and a playroom (laminate) with a little left over. For reference, my house is about 100 sq. m on the ground floor.

In use over the past few weeks, I liked the Kärcher FC5. The pull from the rollers was an initial surprise but I was comfortable moving the cleaner around after a few minutes. It copes well with the different floor surfaces and after whizzing round the hard floors, I could see the dirt in the sucked up water. The FC5 copes well with fluff, hair, sand (Moon Sand), grit and other relatively small pieces of debris (Play Doh). It's not a vacuum cleaner though, so larger items like stones, packaging and sweet wrappers are going to stay on the floor.

I have mixed feelings about the base that the FC5 needs to stay upright. I can kind of understand the need for pre-wetting the rollers but having to keep the base handy just to stand it up is a little annoying. If you can clean your whole house in one go, you'll be fine; those of us who have to stop and move furniture will always be wanting the stand close to hand, only to find it's on the other side of the room.

Priced with an RRP of GB£239, the Kärcher FC5 isn't cheap, and in comparison, popular steam mops cost around a quarter of that, and you're still going to need a proper vacuum cleaner. However the real benefit of the FC5 is the overall time saving of not having to vacuum before cleaning - you only need to go over the surface once with the FC5 and it's job done.

I received this product for review from The Insiders UK but all opinions here are my own.

The Karcher FC5 is designed to make life easier when cleaning hardwood floors, using two motorised rollers at its base and two water tanks (one fresh, one waste) to disperse clean water and then use vacuum power to feed it back into the waste water tank. The rollers use their own inertia when switched on to gently pull the FC5 along and this is intended to aid use of the unit when moving around.

In the box is the unit, the handle (which attaches via a clip mechanism on the front of the cleaner) and the stand which holds up the FC5 when not in use. There's also a quick start guide, instruction manual in various languages and the smallest bottle of cleaning fluid I've ever seen! More on this later in the review. The plug is hard wired and has two lugs behind the main handle which you can wind the wire around when not in use. The wire is around 10 feet or so in length and offers enough flexibility for all but the largest of rooms - you would likely need to use an extension cable in this case and this can then make cleaning with the FC5 a bit cumbersome, I will touch on this in my summary.

    Setup takes about 10 minutes in all from unpacking, this includes filling the fresh water tank with cold water to the max fill line and adding a few drops of the cleaning solution to this so it dilutes in the water. Then it's a case of clipping the waste tank to the rear of the unit, clipping the fresh water tank to the front and then plugging in ready to go. After a removing the FC5 from its stand I noted a few things;

    * This is not a light device. I wasn't expecting it to be in all fairness, but its weight still surprised me and this is something you'll need to bare in mind if you suffer from any weakness in your joints, rheumatic pain etc. As it is not free-standing you need to support it by holding it up or propping it against something. The latter is not ideal as the rollers will still move if there's no power running to the unit so this is a factor you'll need to think about - it really wouldn't have been hard for Karcher to install a small stand which flips out from the back to hold it upright when out of the stand, definitely something for them to think about in the next revision??
    * The fresh water tank seems a lot smaller in capacity compared to the waste tank, perhaps this is a conscious decision but is nonetheless an observation i noticed almost straight away
    * There doesn't seem to be a lot of pivot in the head (like a Dyson vacuum ball cleaner which can move on a number of different axis)

    Okay, there's those few things out of the way. How does it perform in action? Well, after a good few uses it's mixed feelings from me i'm afraid. Having used and been very impressed with two generations of Karcher pressure washers i had high hopes for this and secretly hoped Karcher had delivered a winning indoor hard cleaner. Having read a few of the five star reviews here I was looking forward to this but the reality left me feeling a bit disappointed (I really wanted to like this so please don't think i'm just saying this to be controversial). Here's my thoughts on why;

    * We have a dog who is in her later years now and leaves a lot of fur behind, some have said the FC5 cleaned the floor of dirt AND hair, but on every occasion I ended up with tumbleweeds where the rollers had (admittedly quite neatly) rolled the hair up and flung it off to one side! This means I then had to vacuum the floors afterwards, so this was hardly a one stop hard floor cleaning solution. Therefore I would suggest a quick vac around the floor before use to prevent the above from happening. I posted this on The Insiders blog and a user there commented that they hadn't had this problem but noted others had reported the hair issue
    * The rollers have a gap between them, so the floor ends up with stray water which forms between the rollers and you then have to make diagonal movements with the cleaner to extract these leftover trails. As I mentioned above, the head doesn't have a great deal of movement (there is some) and what movement there is can be a pain due to the weight of the unit
    * On the subject of the rollers, I was impressed with the powered inertia effect when you press the power switch. It's not forceful but provides a gentle but useful pulling effect when moving around the floor. A few people have commented this can cause some arm fatigue due to the weight but I personally didn't have an issue with this
    * I am not convinced the cleaning solution made any difference, the water comes out clean but there's no nice odour left after cleaning - I found a few cap fulls of Zoflora did the trick!
    * As I also mentioned, the fresh water tank is small compared to the waste one and empties itself quite quickly, meaning stops between cleaning. This would not be an issue, HOWEVER, Karcher state in the instructions the waste tank must be emptied first before refilling the fresh one. I have seen some photos of the waste tank and they looked pretty disgusting but either A) we had very clean floors to begin with or, B) there's a problem with the unit. After some inspection this wasn't the case and I found instead that the rollers were saturated and had therefore absorbed a lot of the water, instead of it being extracted into the waste. There was dirty water and hair in it, but not as much as I was expecting. Hmmmm.....
    * The rollers can be machine washed which is very convenient and they come up like new, however, do bare in mind just like a paint roller they lose their fluffy effectiveness (if you know what i mean) after just a few washes and this means the water tends to get pushed around the floor, rather than the brushes having a good scrub action. This meant even light floor debris like small dog food deposits or liquid stains (gravy drops in this case!) would not be cleaned away completely and needed some manual intervention to be removed.

This for me was one of the most disappointing aspects of the FC5 and this forms part of my star rating, as this renders the unit no more effective than a good mop with a bit a little bit of elbow grease thrown in, (indeed, I tried the same spots with a branded mop and it brought them up with no trouble at all). Yes, you have to ring out the water and more often than not you end up washing your floor with dirty water, but then again a mop and bucket doesn't cost north of £200 either and for me i'd trade a bit of effort over this kind of outlay any day. Due to the shape of the rollers it's also a bit cumbersome to into corners, something a mop does with ease and this is something I think Karcher need to think about for future revisions as once i'd finished i had to get down into the corners and remove any dirt by hand. I'm not shy with cleaning - I secretly enjoy it - but something which claims to make life easier but then ends up with you having to do bits yourself surely needs some revision??

As for the cleaning results? Well the floors certainly looked clean and had a nice smooth sheen to them but the results were no better than the branded mop we use and from setting up and putting away (once you've emptied water tanks etc) is no quicker than mop and bucket. It is reasonably quiet in use (a little quieter than a vacuum cleaner) and I am not denying it's useful as it is in rooms with not a lot of furniture, e.g. kitchens and porches. But when it comes to obstacles it lacks the flexibility of other products which do the same thing - this is down to the roller design and is something which needs a re-think in my opinion.

I always believe in writing an honest assessment and reading this back i've given the Karcher a hard time - please remember this is just my own opinion and I am not hating on the brand as both of our Karcher pressure washers have been incredible as well as the window cleaner, all well thought out and genuinely useful products which have made life easier. However, the FC5 feels like a well intended idea which feels less than the sum of its parts.

For me, the weight is a factor which I think others will certainly notice. I expected tanks need to be emptied which is fine, but because they're so small you need to do this more often and the fact you have to empty BOTH before putting it back together means the whole downstairs of our home took about 30 minutes - something which took me 15 minutes with the mop and bucket (I am not exaggerating, I timed it). The final result was not £195 of difference (this is the price gap between our mop and bucket and the Karcher!) and for this reason i cannot recommend the FC5 - and more's the pity as i really wanted to like this and gave it a good few chances to impress me.

It is therefore telling that this has been left unused for over two weeks now, taking up room in the corner of the kitchen whilst I resort to just mopping the floor which is no less effort and even less time.

Sometimes trying to reinvent the wheel isn't always the best way forward, disappointed and quietly gutted at the same time for one of my favourite brands...

    WHAT IT PROMISES?
In a nutshell to save you time and to take the pain out of cleaning hard floors. (i) Timing saving by vacuuming and mopping your hard floors at the same time; (ii) Pain saving as it removes the physical elements associated with cleaning a hard floor - no more scrubbing

TAKING IT OUT OF THE BOX
The unit is packaged well. Construction consists of one easy step, simply click the handle onto the main unit, that’s it, done! Fully constructed the first thing I noticed was the sturdiness, it feels well made and “solid”. It’s operating instructions are simple and clear, once you've used it once you won't need to refer to them again. Fill the water tank, power on with the single switch, empty the waste tank once you’ve finished cleaning.

    FIRST IMPRESSIONS
It's a workout - it really does pull you forward. It’s ability to pull you forward demonstrates that this device really does have a strong cleaning action. Equally some people may struggle with it. The pulling forward can be countered somewhat by lowering the handle to the floor a little - generating more contact with the rear of the device and the floor - adding friction to help combat the pull! At first I didn't think the water function was working but then I realised this was the effectiveness of the “wet vacuum” - sucking up all of the water it puts down. Although I’ve not tried it, I imagine it would be good at vacuuming up a spilled drinks etc. Initially I was on the fence about the effectiveness of the vacuum cleaner when dealing with "dry debris", but the more I used it the more confident I got in it's abilities to cope with this. You only need to look at the contents of the waste tank to confirm that. Similarly, looking at the colour of the water in the waste tank instantly tells you it's doing it job - mine was a satisfying dark brown. When it comes to putting the device away it a nice touch that you have the option to clean the rollers in situ on the device or take them off and throw them in the washer.

    CHALLENGES
Only minor niggles to report, I caught the cord in the rollers a couple of times, more my fault than that of the device. Finally looking at the Karcher website replacement rollers are a little on the expensive side at £19 per set.

    OVERALL
Will I continue to use the device or will it get relegated to the cupboard of unused appliances that have lost their novelty? The answer for me is continue to use, it’s easy and quick to use and is genuinely useful.

The Karcher FC5 hard floor cleaner is a good idea but unfortunately there are a few negatives. Before I received the floor cleaner it sounded like the best possible piece of kit to clean hard floors.

It is very easy to put together and get started, the clean water tank is easy to fill and it really doesn't use much water at all. However, the machine is heavy but the self propelling rollers help to move it along. The floors do dry really quickly (compared to a traditional mop or steam cleaner) but not as quickly as 2 minutes. I don't have any pets so cannot comment on the effectiveness of it picking up pet hair. However, my daughter and I both have long hair and it does not pick our hair up at all.

The floors appear to be clean after use (which is why I would recommend it to a friend) and the amount of dirt that is collected in the dirty water is shocking! If there is a lot of dirt for example from outside shoes then the FC5 doesn't cope very well with that either. It appears to be very good at maintaining an already clean floor but not to clean a very dirty floor.

The FC5 does not stand up on its own and so the stand has to be near by if you need to stop at any point and as the machine is heavy it can be quite tiring to lift it into the stand correctly. I am also concerned about the loud banging that can sometimes occur which I believe is the machine catching on the edge of the tiles.

I'm not sure whether it actually saves any time or not. It takes longer to go around all the rooms with the FC5 so it may be quicker to vacuum and then mop. Also it doesn't fit into small spaces so they need to be cleaned separately.

So, in summary: a good idea that could save time but it needs a lot of improvement for the current RRP to be justified and I'm currently undecided whether I want to continue to use mine.

The Karcher FC5 arrived in a bright colourful box and was well packed. It was very easy to assemble and was ready to clean my floors within minutes. The instructions are very easy to follow and the cleaning power is fantastic. The FC5 is quite heavy but once the roller is in action it easily glide across all your hard floors. Very fast and effective. Picked up so much dirt the results were simpy unbelievable. Can't wait to use it again. After using for over a week it has saved me hours golf cleaning. Due to the FC5 hovering, cleaning and buffering it does 3 jobs in 1, plus the rollers are so easy to remove and clean. The floor is ready to walk on in 2 minutes which is ideal with a young family and the rollers glide so easily over different floors around the house. The water tank is small and easy to fill, however covers a very large area. Fantastic product 5 stars.

So I have a flat with a number of different surfaces so was looking forwards to trying this product.

First impressions were very good. I’ve used a Karcher pressure washer previously and so I was expecting excellent build quality which I found. The cleaner is smart looking, easy to put together from the box and feels sturdy and up to the task

I disagree with other reviewers that the cleaner is heavy – I thought that it felt a good weight in the hand and was easy to manoeuvre around when in use. When it’s on it pulls itself along so it makes it even easier.

I used it in both my main rooms (laminate flooring) and also by bathrooms (tiled flooring) and it did a great job in both. The cable is very long, so I didnt have to keep plugging it in again which was handy as I do with my vacuum.

One of the things I was dubious about was the ability to clean and vacuum at the same time. It does work but it your floor is very dusty, I would recommend a vacuum first as it will make for a better overall clean. The cleaner does do what it says though, it sucks up the dirty water and stores this in a different compartment which is easily removable and easily cleaned, which I liked. My floor was a lot dirtier than I expected!

It comes with a storage bracket so when not in use I simply stored it in the bracket under my stairs which was handy as otherwise it would’ve been rolling around with all my other products.

Overall I would say that the FC5 does a very good job of cleaning floors, but you do have to make regular use of it to account for the price. I would only recommend this to people with dogs/children or multiple hard floors.

Pros: Quality build and premium feeling product. Cuts effort required in half if cleaning wide area. Constant cleaning with clean water. Like that the roller can be put in the washing machine. Cons: Lacks downward pressure and getting in to corners vs a simple mop. Pricey! Would prefer cordless. In short, not worth the investment for me to clean the kitchen. Possibly of use if you had a very large floor area. Update: Just done the kitchen floor again, the Karcher FC5 seem much easier to use this time around. I've posted a picture of the filth off the floor only collected in a week. I thought the floor looked clean! So the FC5 goes up in my estimations, I still can't get over the price though I'm afraid. I think this is partly to do with fact we have carpets and laminate so we already have a good quality vacuum and carpet washer. Yet another floor cleaner at this price is probably a no go.

Karcher quality and ergonomic design all over! This seems to be a very well designed product to clean all kind of light dirt areas at home. My first test was to clean a broken egg from the kitchen floor, in 3 seconds I was done! Second test, spillage of sugar, flour and coffe, once again the FC5 dealt it with ease! Next time I will give it a go all around the house, mainly to se how it will deal with dog fur! I think this kind of equipment would work better if it was battery powered! Update: During this week, noticed that the vacuum head gets easly blocked by bigger waste, better sweep floors before use. Over laminate floor, takes longer than 2 minutes to dry. Pet fur can be a challenge when you clean the machine. Conclusion: This equipment can be a great help for people without messy pets and/or children where the house is mostly clean and you just need to perform a maintenance clean. If not, in my opinion, it doesn't justifies the investment.

My first impressions of the FC5 are most certainly positive, it came well packaged and was easy to assemble. The device has three interlocking pieces all of which were easy enough to connect and disconnect. Instructions were easy enough to follow, primarily a visual guide so there is not much to read into, so you can get set up and started in no time. When pouring water into the stand from which the FC5 rests I recommend if it is the first time getting use of the product to allow the water to be soaked into the rollers otherwise they will struggle to move with ease. Using the product is satisfying, you don't feel like it is a chore to clean, the FC5 flows across the surface of the floor once the rollers are in motion, it is also effortless to maneuver due to the ergonomics of the handle and not being too heavy in hand. So far the FC5 has left me impressed to say the least. After using the FC5 throughout the week I must say that it has made cleaning the kitchen a whole lot easier and less time consuming than doing it with a conventional mop, I can definitely recommend the FC5 to anyone one wants to clean their floors in the quickest manner possible. The two water reservoirs, are both easy to clean after use. Overall the FC5 is accessible to all, if I was to say a negative it would just be a nitpick but it would involve the speed of which the product flows as if you are not too careful it can just run away with you, then again this is just a slight nitpick and not everyone will feel the same about this as that acceleration contributes to the speed of which it can clean.

Fabulous cleaner but hoovering is still necessary and therefore defeats the object and incentive of purchasing this product. I have to Hoover then clean and polish which I already do and so am not saving much time, which is a shame. The water tanks are easy to remove and refill/empty. It is easy to clean and polish the floors but I still need to hoover first. It is quite a large machine and a degree of strength is required but nothing untoward. How ever storage has proved to be an issue due to it's size. I have dogs and as such this machine does not save me any time as I still need to hoover but it does leave my floors gleaming .

Where has this been all of my life?

As an owner of a new build house, that has high gloss floor tiles across the entire ground floor (the wifes' choice!), and as a modern man, who takes his fair share of the chores... mine being the flooring for the house, and my wife, the washing and ironing... I have been contemplating learning the washing machine, and swapping chores! I have been through no end of potions, fluids, steamers and mops, sore knees, all to no avail in keeping the floors bright and sparkling. Along come the Insiders, and the Karcher FC5. Having used the brilliant Window Vacuum, and Pressure washers for the patio and cars, i knew the build and quality would be fantastic. Simple to put together, the handle simply clicks into place, a quick fill of the Detergent bottle with Water, and only a cap of the supplied detergent, a "wetting" of the rollers in the supplied stand, and I was off. Really easy to use, no need to hover the floor first, and quick drying shiny floors!. Before i knew it, i had finished the entire downstairs, and realised that from opening the box, to completion, it had been 45 mins. I normally spend at least an hour more!. Great product, superb results, and the wife can rest assured that i will not be shrinking, or turning white things a different colour for some time to come. Thank you Karcher

I was expecting great things from the Karcher FC5 knowing the brand to be a leader and innovator as far as cleaning goes (after all they brought us the Window Vac). Setup was remarkably simple just clip the handle together and you're done. It feels solid and well built. First use I must say I was disappointed somewhat. It doesn't seem to dispense water when being used the level in the fresh tank not going down at all. Second attempt seemed a little better but not putting down as much water as I would like to see really. Maybe my product is faulty - I'll reserve judgement on that. How well does it work then? Well it does clean the floors pretty well, you can tell it has been over them anyway. It is effortless with the slight pull away from you which is pleasant and it glides easily across surfaces. Anything larger than dust is a problem for it as the vacuum intake is only a couple of millimeters so things like fine stones walked in block the vacuum intake or just get left behind. Likewise small leaves do and breadcrumbs the same. After using it for 20 mins or so doing all the floors downstairs the back of the fresh water tank seemed very warm, it seems to be a design issue as the tank actually obstructs the outlet vent from the vacuum which seems very strange of Karcher to do really. Not sure why this is as you can hear it restrict the airflow if you try removing the tank when it is on so surely this hampers performance. Overall I'm not sure where it fits... yes it does vacuum fine particles (as long as they're not within 15mm of the edge of the floor) yes it mops to an adequate standard but not amazing and it does struggle with dried on stains. To me I feel it is a product that is intended to be used regularly hence maybe the ability to tackle dried stains isn't an issue; but if this is the case the power cord is a huge drawback. Being cordless would cement this as a must have accessory for cleaning. In its current state I would say it is a luxury but I fear it could be destined to be forgotten about when the novelty wears off.

I was very excited to receive the FC5 to test. Finally, a product that will make cleaning the expanse of hard floors in my house easier (and thus mean I actually clean them regularly!). Initial impressions were good - easy set up, straight forward instructions and simple to operate. I hadn’t vacuumed in a few days so thought let’s see what it can do. Unfortunately, as with so many products that are designed to do more than one task, neither is done brilliantly. It certainly doesn’t dispense with the requirement for a vacuum cleaner as anything much bigger than a grain of sand wasn’t lifted. In terms of floor cleaning, it does a pretty good job although there is a requirement to go over areas more than once, not least because of the gap between the rollers. There is a significant amount of vibration transmitted through the hand and forearm during use. I’m a fit and healthy 36 year old that does a lot of press-ups and pull-ups and it still left me with a tired arm! Five minutes was about my limit before I needed to do something else for a while. On a more positive note, it is much more efficient than a traditional mop - I was able to cover the same area in about a third of the time it would take me to mop it. It dries faster than mopping, although I think under two minutes is a bit of a stretch in Britain! It uses a much smaller volume of water than mopping does and the waste water tank is easy to remove for disposal of the dirty water. I think the time efficiency is what will drive me to use this product. There is certainly still a requirement for me to vacuum my floors before cleaning with the FC5, but the speed with which I can then wash and dry them makes up for that. Would I recommend this to a friend? Yes, if they’ve got a spare £229 and nothing else to spend it on. I would have been disappointed to have spent £229 on it and it would have felt like a very expensive mop.

I Like using the Karcher FC5. Its fairly heavy, and takes time to get the hang of the correct angle to use it, you sort of have to have it more laid back to push and pull it than what you would say a hoover. But I thought it cleaned well. Drying time is a bit longer in real than it says, for me I found it was more like 5 minutes, but thats ok as does a good job of cleaning. The liquid that comes with the product lacks any kind of smell. Would like more scent with any future cleaning liquid. All in all, its a good bit of kit.

Have been using the Karcher FC5 floor cleaner for a couple of weeks now. Found it very easy to use and much quicker than a mop. I find it cleans the floors very well and leaves very little water residue after meaning the floors dry quicker then when using a conventional mop.
Couple of negatives – not great at getting stubborn stains of the floor and have found I need to clear the suction area behind the rollers quite often as it easily blocks.

The FC5 is very easy to assemble taking less than 5 minutes out the box. The pictorial instructions are fairly simple and easy to understand for the most part. The build quality is excellent as you'd expect from Karcher.

Using the device is very easy, fill up the tank on the front, turn it on and off you go. I found it very good for cleaning large areas, it can also get right up to the edge of floors you are cleaning adjacent to. It would struggle to fit into small gaps but I was able to clean the majority of my floor with it. I do have a few negatives, it leaves dirty marks on skirtings which would need wiping off afterwards and also struggles to clean grouting. I think a traditional mop or steam cleaner wouldn't have these issues although they don't inc;ude the vacuum function.

It took me about 10 minutes to do the area in my pictures and it took a further 10 minutes to dry afterwards. I think this is quicker than other methods although the issues I mentioned earlier would probably make the time roughly the same.

I think this would be an excellent product for people with all or lots of floor it's suitable for. As I only have one relatively small hard floor I would still need a separate vacuum so it seems like an additional product to add to the clutter!

    Hi there,
Been using the Karcher FC5 for a while already since this campaign started and i found something i already knew . Karcher is a professional brand. Well..box arrived in good conditions, assembling was a straightforward process. Few things that worth mentioning are:
    1. Uses extremely less water compared to the classic mopping
    2. Its a light tool, anyone can use it
3.Maintaining is easiest ever. Fill the tank ,empty the tank, wash the roles
    4. Results are remarkable, especially on wooden floors where we don't want much water left on the floor
    5. Time means money. I got clean floors in shortest time possible ( takes 2 minutes to dry, if exposed to a bit of airflow ,even faster) Karcher FC5 should not be missing from any household . My family friends already looking to buy one. I recommend this product with all my hearth.
