For those who are interested, you can donate direct to the International Red Cross to aid the search and rescue and also fund mobile kitchens, etc. for the homeless:

https://www.redcross...thquake-appeal/

100% of your donation goes to the people in need. It won't be soaked up in bureaucracy.

It's pretty painless - you can opt to be anonymous, or give just as much personal info as you wish. Donation is by credit card. You don't have to register or accept the newsletter (you can untick the option). Only if you want a receipt do you need to give an email.

PriceSpy has no rules regarding non-profits soliciting donations. We're talking about it at the moment.

Imagine if there were threads everywhere with people just asking for money for different causes. Would be a shambles. Gotta be against the rules, even if there is nothing written in stone.

Yeah I'm not personally against it but that's the issue I have with it too.

Retroactive application of rule changes is something I don't like, so even if we did change the rules now this would probably be left up (unless there was a different issue with it). Also, it hasn't been a problem up until now and probably won't become one. The admins have decided that if it does become a problem, the rules will be changed then.
