Hello all hope everyone is having a good day!

I just need abit of help here to know what is best for me in the long run.

Ryzen or coffee lake...

I normally use my computer for photo & video editing and streaming my game play.

I want something that will last a good 3 years. What do you guys think?

i7 8700k or 1800X

I have no idea!!

The i7 is cheaper. They've got fairly similar performance depending on benchmark, with the Ryzen slightly ahead in many (but not all) situations. Personally I'd say they're close enough to go for the i7 and leave it at that. So it really depends on which of those is more important to you. Price (8700K) or performance (probably 1800X)? Either will last just fine.

I built one a few weeks ago, but don't have time to play on it sadly.

Still have all boxes and receipts, works great  :)

The Facebook link?

Works for me. But that system looks a little low end if the OP is planning an 8700k/1800X build.

I would personally go for the 8700k, it's really not far behind on the multi-core performance and the 8700k is better for single threaded performance.

Weird, it is giving me a 500 Internal Server Error. On three browsers.

Yeah, single-threaded performance is still pretty important in my opinion.

I'm going to go the other way.... photo and video editing and streaming your gameplay too? I'd get Ryzen for all that. As a straight up gaming machine only, then I'd get the 8700K.

Also just thinking about it, there isn't much point in going for the 1800x, when the 1700x is very similar in performance and quite a bit cheaper.
