I don't know if this is the best thread for my PC, but I need to post it up somewhere, I'm very proud of it :D It's the first PC I've really built with the parts I've wanted (I've been playing around with old PCs for years - mostly Pentium 4s). It took a while to get up to date with the new hardware, but I spent a long time researching before buying my parts. I use it for everything, but 3D animation, photo and video editing (e.g. Maya, Blender, Adobe CS, Lightroom) are some of the more demanding tasks I use it for.

Here's most the parts in my PC: https://pricespy.co....ist.php?l=63610
This is my facebook album of my PC with specs (hopefully it's visible) https://www.facebook...100001735304045

You will notice the PriceSpy list has an MSI 7770 instead of 2 EVGA 9800 GTs, my graphics cards have been bid on at TradeMe, and I am going to buy the MSI to replace them. (I actually have the two 9800 GTs, plus a GT 240 in it for the moment)

Looking good Josh, seeing the price of those parts is putting me off a custom loop for a bit longer...
Will you get a backplate for your GTX 670 also?

:D time for me to start saving! I just bought a Kuhler 620 so I can play games in peace until I have enough for this gear.

Wasn't planning on it, no. Maybe if I decide to do a window mod, but I'd rather go with noise dampening foam. Silence is the goal here.

When you do get that EK block go for the Non Nickel one. I have heard rumours that they still haven't completely fixed the problems that they were having with the EN Nickel coating process. You could look at the Heatkiller block. It has the same level of flow restriction as the EK block, but also has a better heat design and hence better heat dispersion. But you will need a back plate for it though.

I was, but I got a new job!

S0up, why do I need a backplate? Do they actually have any practical value? I'm guessing they keep heat from bleeding through the board but it'd be bugger all. I'll look at other blocks, I chose this one because I don't want too much copper because I don't like the look and apparently it gets crappy over time; and because I wasn't aware of any other companies making 670 blocks.

Edit: I don't see any blocks from XSPC, Watercool, Koolance or Swiftech. Maybe they'll be out by the time I buy, but for now it's EK.

Backplate is sometimes necessary for heaver waterblocks. Eg: Some of the blocks that are compelely made out of Copper, etc. And go for a non-Nickel EK then. Well just my 2c's, you should be fine but I personally wouldn't want to risk it. And you can get EK Acetal blocks that should look fine.

Why is it necessary though?

You don't really get full Coppers, it's always in conjunction with either Acetal or Plexi. The CPU block I want has Copper in it anyway so I could go for the Acetal

Well it's just that I don't trust EK's nickel process as far as I could throw them. But the Non-Nickel Acetal ones look solid.

Addressed but never really solved. They brought in the new EN nickel coating process. But for that you need to get the surface that you are attracting the nickel onto perfect otherwise you get corrosion. There are threads dedicated to people complaining about the EN blocks.

TJ08B-E, Any Fractal suffixed with "Mini." My personal favourite, the Antec P180 Mini. LianLi PC-V354.

Neither really, my case has no hot air now, much to my little board's pleasure (I presume.) The reference cooler exhausts outside the case, and the Kuhler exhausts out the top. Both are fed with icy Christchurchian air by a nice quiet 140mm about 15cm away.

The fan is pulling air off the radiator. I wanted to have it pushing outward from the inside but it wasn't possible due to the screws not reaching far enough through the rad to attach to the top of the case.
