Does anyone know when the Samsung S6 and S6 Edge price will be dropping, like it has in Europe and other places of the world.. I am upgrading from a nexus 5 ( 2013 ) to a Samsung S6 ( Hopefully ) But I was wondering when the price would be dropping by a couple of $100. Because no one wants to spend $759 on a phone then the next day they have dropped by $200 or so. Any ideas of when that date could come? Also if you have any other great phone suggestions please say. S

I wouldn't expect a price drop in the same way, most of the stores that have it at the cheapest price are doing some sort of parallel importing so price will drop at some point but itll be when their non NZ suppliers reduce price and i wouldnt expect as big a drop. Other downside is the worsening exchange rate is likely to slim down the reductions too.

The big stores may drop their prices but itll probably still be more than the stores pricespy has listed (Dicksmith has it on special for $999, Noel leeming for $977 so they need really big drops to hit $760)

I've removed the other thread that was a double post.

I think the above post sounds about right though.

Just a bump on this thread, I'm looking at buying an S6 but as it seems a new release is imminent what would you recommend? Hold fire?

Might pay to wait till the end of the month.
Samsung should be announcing the Galaxy S7 on Feb 21st, so prices of S6 should start to drop as soon as S7 are in stores.

Telecom told me mid-late March if i want to renew my contract and get an s7.

Soon as the s7 launches (or just before) expect decent discounts on the s6, you are doing the smart thing holding fire for a bit :)
