Since you can never have enough ethernet cables, and I've been running low lately...

I'd like to stop paying a ridiculous amount for cables, and would like to start making my own.

In america, you can get a spool of 1000ft for a ridiculously cheap price. E.g.: https://www.amazon.c...e/dp/B004PL082U

I can find very few places in NZ that sell large spools, and the places that do charge rediculous amounts ($300+ sometimes).

Anybody know any places where you can get a spool for a good price?

Under $100

Cablemax have a lot of options that are more expensive than trademe but not horrific (Sub$200) if you wanted one place to get all the parts from thats probably your best option

Cat6 Flat cables are less ugly and usually in less offensive colours... just saying in case you have them ran through more visible places might be worth the little extra :D

I can see an NZ places that sell ~300 m spools for about $180. But that's still far more expensive than that one. You might just have to buy from somewhere other than NZ to get it cheap, although shipping might be difficult.

Edit: I see that andytheape posted a Trade Me link before I posted this... That actually looks really good, and you're probably best to disregard most of what I said before.
