Hi,

So the i7 8700K has dropped about $100 since first priced, does anyone know if the motherboards will follow?

I'm really wanting to buy a new system with that CPU, not exactly sure which motherboard to get, I was thinking about getting one around $240 since they all seem to be the same with a few minor changes, although I think 2x M.2 slots is what I would go for.

But do you think the prices for motherboards will drop as drastically as the CPU did? Or do they tend to stay the same price?

Cheers.

They could well drop a bit yet, but Z270 boards have only dropped below $200 since the beginning of this month (probably to move stock before Z370). So there's not really room for major changes.

Furthermore, while the 8700K might have dropped about $100 since first listed, the first list prices were pre-order and hopelessly unrealistic. As soon as they were generally available, they dropped right down to about where they are now.
