Just thought I'd write here how pissed I am that the right-hand side of my DT-770's has stopped working  It doesn't matter how much you spend, the same BS problem happens!

Definitely the headphones not the amp? Though I'm sure you've already checked...

Find out exactly what is wrong with them, and fix them if possible – most likely you'll improve them rather than otherwise.

Post pics, and we might give you some ideas.

If you need to get to the drivers, the earpads will just pull off, and, from memory, there is a round plastic ring that will pop out with a flathead screwdriver.

I could give some advice if necessary. Have you tried playing around with the cable and cups? If you move them and it works it could be the cable. You probably don't have to be as extreme as me...

Yeah I've worked my way right through the main cable, as well as the cable from the left cup to the right cup. The cable leading into the right cup moves when it should, which means I need to find a way to open the right cup. Ooh you're extreme are you?

Cheers... I tried wedging a little flathead in there but I didn't want to force it. I'll have another go.

Yup I've checked. Same problem on my phone. I'll open them and then take some pictures.

I was merely implying that my approach was a bit haphazard and unrestrained

Best I could do, they're not very descriptive images:

Everything appears to be in order, there are little copper wires on the lower pins but I don't understand their function. I also emailed Beyerdynamic.

I think there should be 3 wires. Left, right and common. If there are more I'm not quite sure what they are. Unless they are double coil

Yeah, looks fine to me.

The wires on the lower pins will probably be the connection from the pins to the speaker coil.

Correct, except that is (unless I'm seeing things very wrong) the connection of one side to the speaker itself – where you only expect two.

I'm baffled by it, I've traced my fingers across the entire cable(s) and got no response. Previously with headphones I've been able to get the broken side to work by doing this, as it presses the cable back together temporarily.

Have you got a multimeter? If so, see if each wire in the cable conducts from the jack to the connection to the speaker.

Nah I don't, I really need to get one to be honest. I don't have any money to spend at the moment though because I'm saving.

Well, I contacted the company I bought them from, and they'll replace them if I pay shipping to and from the US. I was told it would cost US$25 to get them sent back here, so I'm probably looking at $60-70 for a replacement. I need to email the distributor to get a rough quote on getting them fixed so I can figure out which road to go down.

Totally worth it. Im up to 33 hours on ME1 and it is so sweet. Real nice game, real nice NPC interaction, lots of dialog choices, fun combat etc. Had to uninstall all my steam games though, I'll fail this semester otherwise :(

Dialog choices are cool. It's one of the things I really enjoyed about the Knights of The Old Republic games. Haha damn, I haven't had to resort to that before. I don't have Facebook anymore which will surely help my exam performance though, I may end up uninstalling League but games of League are a great way to perforate a day of study with something you can look forward to. 2 hours study per game works pretty well :D And makes time go faster.
